Friday's Maths Time

Room 2 & 3 children are learning about shapes and their properties. 

See them all so focussed practising their cutting and gluing skills as they work on their task sorting the shapes.

2016 SCHOOLWIDE FOCUS

This term a new  focus has been introduced every two weeks.

We began with MANNERS, followed by BEING ORGANISED, GETTING ALONG and CARING.

The focus for the last weeks of the term will be BE PERSISTENT

The current focus is highlighted in the classroom, out in the playground, at Assemblies and in newsletters.

Room 2 & 3's Green Week 'Wondering'

The two classes enjoyed sharing the children's book "How many seeds in a pumpkin?"

The title of this book became our question for investigation.

We wonder ......HOW MANY SEEDS IN A PUMPKIN?

* Talked about how pumpkins grow

* Discovered there was a pumpkin patch in the school grounds

* Organised and went on a pumpkin hunt

* Found a pumpkin and took it back to class

* Recorded how many seeds we thought were in the pumpkin

* Cut pumpkin into big slices and worked with a buddy to remove all the seeds

* Counted the seeds using tens frames and counting in tens

We found 112 seeds were in our pumpkin.

Wrapper Free Lunch boxes

It's Monday and Room 2 children are looking in each other's boxes to see who has a wrapper free lunchbox ..... no packets, no gladwrap. Amy and Tui's names went into the prize draw.

GREEN WEEK 2016

Classes are all busy following up their "I wonder ....." questions about our school environment and beyond in their classrooms. Green Week activities will culminate wth a School Assembly on Friday at 2.00pm.

RACE RELATIONS DAY 2016

It was such an exciting day .... dressing in clothes representing their various cultural background, parading up on stage during Assembly, sampling a great range of foods at the Shared Lunch.

It was a great first Race Relations day experience for Room 2 children. Check us out in the photos.
